Adam Gase is in the process of filling out his coaching staff. It sounds like he just secured one of his most important position coach hires according to Mike Florio.
Per source the Jets are expected to hire former Bengals offensive line coach Frank Pollack.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) January 21, 2019
SB Nation’s Cincy Jungle seems to have a positive view of Pollack’s time in Cincinnati.
Pollack was brought on to replace Paul Alexander in 2018. While the offensive line left a lot to be desired, Pollack did an admirable job with a group that included band-aids like Alex Redmond and Bobby Hart in the starting lineup, as well as a rookie center in Billy Price.
The Bengals also had issues throughout the year at left tackle with Cordy Glenn battling several injuries. Pollack deserved another chance to get this unit right with what will hopefully be a better group in 2019, but for whatever reason, he won’t get it.
Prior to his stint in Cincinnati, Pollack worked in Dallas as offensive line coach where he oversaw one of the best offensive lines in the game. His coaching career has also included stops in Oakland and Houston.
I think most people would agree that no matter whom the Jets hired for this position, the team needs to do a better job identifying and acquiring talent on the line.
