Rams vs Saints Game Thread

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Three games left in the 2018 NFL season. The 2018 NFL Playoffs continue today with the conference championship games. First game on the schedule today has the Los Angeles Rams heading east to take on the New Orleans Saints in the Big Easy.

The 14-3 Los Angeles Rams tied for the best record in the NFL this year. The Rams have a terrific, balanced offense, ranked #2 on the year in both points and yards. The Rams offense has superb balance, with a top five running attack and passing attack. The defense is just average, but ranks in the top five in turnovers generated. This is a well balanced, well coached, tough Rams team with few glaring weaknesses.

The 14-3 New Orleans Saints come into this game as the #1 seed in the NFC and favorites to make it to the Super Bowl. Winners of thirteen of fourteen games in the regular season before a meaningless last game loss to the Carolina Panthers, nobody is hotter than the Saints. Surprisingly for a Drew Brees led team, the Saints offense lives and dies with the running game. Unlike the Saints of yesteryear, this Saints team has a middling passing attack, ranking 12th in the NFL in yards. The rushing attack is a different story, ranking sixth in the NFL in yards. The defense mirrors the offense, with a poor pass defense and an excellent run defense. At home, in the roaring Superdome, with Brees under center, this Saints team will be really tough to beat.

It’s the Rams and the Saints to open the conference championship games this Sunday, the last hurdle before the Super Bowl.

Enjoy the game everybody.
