It has been rumored for around a week. Yesterday the news came that the sides were getting close. Today the Jets officially announced they have signed Gregg Williams to be their defensive coordinator.

Williams seemed to be the guy the Jets wanted from the start. With Adam Gase focusing on offense, he will presumably have a lot of autonomy to shape a unit that has not lived up to expectations over the last few seasons.
Williams’ stock was high after doing a really good job as interim head coach of the Browns after the in season firing of Hue Jackson.
The Jets also announced special teams coach Brant Boyer will be staying with the team.

News of this broke over the weekend, but there is always the matter of getting contracts officially signed.
With the senior level people mostly in place (aside from the offensive coordinator), attention can now turn to position coaches.
