On why the hire of Gase might be different:

We’ve always been excited about hires and they’ve never worked out

So many given that we’re pissed about this one, it actually will work out

On who the Jets biggest rival is:

There was an article on GGN a while back asking fans who Jets’ biggest rival was. I said then what I’m saying now: the Jets are the Jets biggest rival. This team sabotages itself more than any I’ve ever been a fan of. Bear in mind I’m also a fan of the Knicks…so that’s saying a lot

On our chances to improve next year:

forget about the fish record for last 3 years for a moment

which lest we forget is far better than jets record the past 3 years with Gase running O and if we can get Williams running D, don’t you think the jets have an opportunity to improve substantially next year? O: sam looked good last year under bupkis for O coaching. isn’t it likely he will substantially improve under Gase? D: defensive was too passive and missed too many assignments last year (with no consequences from bowles). does that sound like a Williams-led D? plus #3 pick/$100MM cap room. So, I’m saying, we have a chance [yes, from dumb and dumber]

On what to like about the Gase hire:

Starting to have some decent belief in this hire at this point

-Gase ran personnel as well as coaching, and perhaps that hindered him. Macc probably isn’t much better but I’ll take a division of responsibilities.-Dolphins were as pointed out, very good at winning close games.-DC hire of Gregg is very exciting to me.-When I see coaches do exceptionally well first year and meh/bad years afterwards, I think that’s just the rest of the league figuring them out and coming down to game by game gameplanning and talent. I actually think that this reflects decently on Gase. The QBs he was working with for the majority of 6-10 and 7-9 were dadbod Cutler and faker Osweiler. He managed to get 6 and 7 wins with them and an average roster (do they have a single superstar?)-I believe that he will do a very good job with Sam. Wherever he’s gone, regardless of the results, the QB developed or had a good season. Sam is trending upwards, and I believe Adam will only help him.-He had a winning record in the division (which yes I get is against mediocre competition, but you need someone who can win the division and play the Pats well. Also knows the Dolphins players inside and out so for the coming few years he’ll be well versed in 2 of our more important games each year.-I really believe that we need a jerk/hard personality as our HC. The culture we’ve had since 2009 has been very laid back and buddy-buddy with the coaches. Maybe we do need more of a business/respect relationship between player and coach.-If there’s any coach in the league that’s going to be fired up to win more it’s gonna be Gase. I kinda think this hire wasn’t as bad as I thought originally. I can definitely see it succeeding, and don’t think it’s a crazy longshot. Would I maybe have preferred some other candidates? Sure. But now… I think Gase might have some real promise.

On how Adam Gase may have actually overachieved with the Dolphins:

Don’t like the hire

But when I read that Tannehill missed 24 of 48 possible starts for Miami with Gase as the head coach, I think to myself how much would you win if your starting qb didn’t play in half of the games? Looking at it that way this guy may have overachieved!

-T Spicer

On what Adam Gase’s vision should be for the defense:

As far as his vision for defense, all I want to hear from him is ...

”We hired Gregg Williams as Defensive Coordinator, he’ll run the defense and I’ll run the offense.” That doesn’t mean he doesn’t oversee the entire game plan and the buck stops with the HC; offense, defense whatever, but I’ll feel a lot better if we hire a first rate DC like Gregg Williams … the heck with “like Gregg Williams”, might as well hire Gregg Williams himself, and let him do his thing. As for the offense, I’m confident Gase is brilliant enough on offense that he’ll light it up, especially now that he has a legit FQB to work with. I also like that he/we were smart enough to retain ST Coach, Brant Boyer.

-Whiskey Slick

On the expected hiring of Gregg Williams:

This is going to be a no nonsense staff!

Which is a relief because our staff has enabled a lot of nonsense the past 10 years.

-JetsNJ78

On Adam Gase’s eyes:

Adam Gase’s eyes

I don’t know about you guys but when I saw him making those eyes I saw the EYE OF THE TIGER!!!!

-GangGreenRCR

On what the impending Williams hire means for Darron Lee:

The biggest winner here is Darron Lee

Dude was made to be a Will linebacker. He should shine next year in Williams defense, so long as his cover skills this year weren’t a fluke.

-newman104

On how the coaching staff is shaping up:

OC: Gase DC: Williams ST: Boyer Putting together a nice coaching staff. All we need is a HC.

-Ponti
