Colts vs Chiefs Game Thread

Divisional Round - Indianapolis Colts v Kansas City Chiefs Photo by Jason Hanna/Getty Images

The 2018 NFL Playoffs continue today with perhaps the best weekend of NFL action all year. The divisional round kicks off with the Indianapolis Colts taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in snowy Kansas City.

This one looked to be a barn burner, a classic shootout between two elite quarterbacks in Andrew Luck and Patrick Mahomes. Then, weather. It’ll be a bit difficult to produce a shootout in a snowstorm, but this one still promises loads of fun NFL action.

The 11-6 Indianapolis Colts come into tonight’s game on a wildly improbable playoff run. This team was 1-5 after six games, coming off a devastating loss to the New York Jets and all but buried in the playoff race. Since that low point in the season the Colts have reeled off 10 wins in their last 11 games, including a wild card playoff win over the Houston Texans last week. The Colts are led by a resurgent Andrew Luck, who came all the way back from a career threatening arm injury this year to return to the ranks of elite NFL quarterbacks. With an excellent offensive line finally in place to protect Luck and a top running back finally helping out in Marlon Mack the Colts are a fun team to watch.

Standing in the way of the Colts continuing their improbable run are the Kansas City Chiefs, AFC West champions and the #1 seed in the AFC. The 12-4 Chiefs feature precious little in the way of defense, but they have a wildly entertaining and prolific offense led by sophomore sensation Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. Mahomes is a top MVP candidate, having thrown for a ridiculous 50 touchdowns, leading the most prolific offense in the NFL. Pro Bowl targets Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce help Mahomes make this Chiefs offense nearly impossible to stop. Perhaps the snow will do what opponents have been unable to do and slow down the Chiefs juggernaut.

We start the divisional round with a gem of a matchup between two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s the Colts and the Chiefs, Andrew Luck and Patrick Mahomes putting on a show to start off the weekend.

Grab a seat, get some popcorn and enjoy the show everybody.
