New York Jets Flight Connections 1/10/19

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

NFL: Green Bay Packers at New York Jets Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, GGN! Some hectic and questionable moves were made yesterday, as the Jets have hired Adam Gase to be their next head coach. The same Adam Gase who holds a losing record during his stint with the Dolphins. The same Adam Gase who traded away the Dolphins’ best players, and who played 35 year old Frank Gore over Kenyan Drake. There aren’t much positives to say about this hire. It’s hard to give him any sort of credit during his time with Denver — as he had Peyton Manning to work with — who at that stage in his career was essentially manning his own offense. The one good thing I can say about this hire is that at times, there were some innovative plays drawn up by the Dolphins. I think the offense will look better than it did under Bates, but honestly that isn’t saying much. I think if the Jets can make a big splash and land some offensive threats during Free Agency, this offense will have success — which again, isn’t saying much. Most head coaches have more success in their second stints than in their first, but it’s hard to imagine this hire working out well. Reports also suggest that he’s bringing with him his former Dolphins OC, Dowell Loggains with him to hold the same title with the Jets. Former candidate Mike McCarthy has decided to sit out the 2019 season, which is probably a smart move on his part. I’m still quite shocked, and there’ll be plenty of reports and speculation in the coming days. Here are your daily links to the Jets this Thursday.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful day!
