Are you ready for some football?!! The 2018 NFL season kicks off tonight with a rematch of the 2017 NFC divisional round playoff game, a game won by the Philadelphia Eagles over the Atlanta Falcons on their way to a Super Bowl championship.
The Atlanta Falcons come into the game looking for revenge. Last year the Falcons barely lost to the Eagles in the divisional round, 15-10, with a last gasp Falcons drive stalling at the Eagles 10 yard line. Led by veteran quarterback Matt Ryan, perennial Pro Bowl receiver Julio Jones, and a two headed ground attack featuring Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, the Falcons field a high octane offense with play makers galore. The Falcons look to begin their campaign to return to the Super Bowl with a big win against the reigning champions.
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to avoid a post-Super Bowl letdown. With star quarterback Carson Wentz still not quite recovered from his season ending injury of last year, the Eagles will be led by unlikely Super Bowl hero Nick Foles. Foles was brilliant in leading the Eagles to a championship last season, but has not looked sharp in this year’s preseason games. Aside from Carson Wentz, the Eagles will also be missing star receiver Alshon Jeffrey.
It’s the Falcons and the Eagles kicking off the 2018 NFL season. Football is back, and for an evening, all is right with the world.
Enjoy the game everybody.
