Jets Week 3 Anti-Game Ball: Everybody

The Jets lost last week, which means we have to assign an anti-game ball.

I struggled quite a bit with this one. There were just too many candidates. We try to avoid giving it to the quarterback aside from truly exceptional cases. Sam Darnold’s performance was certainly poor enough to make that exception. Darnold wasn’t alone in his poor play, however, as his offensive line turned in an ugly performance. From his receiving corps, Robby Anderson had another fumble, while Terrelle Pryor ran a lousy route on a key play for a second straight week.

Meanwhile, the defense blew a 14 point lead to a rookie quarterback.

The team played plenty of undisciplined football.

The coaching staff certainly deserves some blame for suspect playcalling and that overall lack of discipline.

In the end, the easiest thing to do is take the unusual step of giving everybody the anti-game ball. Maybe we can spare a few of the game’s stars like Quincy Enunwa and Avery Willamson, but this loss was a team-wide effort. I will reward the entire team with my anti-game ball as a result.
