The veteran Josh McCown is next in our Jets roster countdown.
Name: Josh McCown
Number: 15
Year with Jets: 2nd
Projected Role: Backup quarterback/veteran mentor to Sam Darnold
His 2017: The Jets did not have a very good 2017 season, but they probably would have been a historic laughingstock had Bryce Petty and/or Christian Hackenberg started the bulk of the games. McCown helped lift the Jets to merely bad team status while setting career highs with 2,926 yards and 18 touchdowns. Some brutal fourth quarter performances helped contribute to losses, but things could have been so much worse.
2018 will be a success if: McCown serves as something of a player/coach to help Darnold through his first year and plays credible football when called upon. I think he is in a role much more in line with his skillset this year than he was last season.
Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
