The next Jet in our roster countdown is ArDarius Stewart.
Name: ArDarius Stewart
Number: 18
Year with Jets: 2nd
Projected Role: Deep on the receiver depth chart
His 2017: Stewart did not make much of a positive impact as a rookie. He caught only 6 passes for 82 yards. The Jets tried to manufacture touches for him in other ways, but he did not show much explosion with the ball in his hands. 7 carries only netted 27 yards, and 9 kickoff returns only went for 173 yards. Everybody knew Stewart’s route running needed refinement as he entered the league, but he was supposed to be able to make plays with the ball in his hands. That did not happen.
2018 will be a success if: Stewart shows some growth in his game if he is pressed into action. If he even makes the team, he will likely be low on the depth chart.
Odds of making the roster: At this point I think if Stewart makes the roster it will only be because the Jets don’t want to cut a third round pick so soon. That can be a driving force, but there are just so many better options that I don’t like his chances. Unlikely (25-50%)
