Terrence Brooks is next up in our Jets roster countdown.
Name: Terrence Brooks
Number: 23
Year with Jets: 2nd
Projected Role: Backup safety
His 2017: Brooks was traded from the Eagles to the Jets during training camp for Dexter McDougle. His made a big splash early, earning the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award in the Jets’ Week 3 win over the Dolphins. Brooks had a pair of interceptions. It didn’t matter to the voters that one of those interceptions came on special teams on a fake punt. He still brought home the hardware. The rest of his season was much quieter.
2018 will be a success if: Brooks is a steady player in subpackages and steps in ably in the event of injuries. It might be tempting to hope he can put together another monster game, but he probably will never approach anything like it for the rest of his career.
Odds of making the roster: There aren’t many open safety spots, but Brooks has experience in the system and some level of adequate play so I will call him More Likely Than Not (50-75%).
