His 2017: At long last, the Jets made Powell the top man in their backfield stable. Powell did what Powell always does. He succeeded in the role the Jets gave him. He set a career high with 772 rushing yards on a solid 4.3 yard average and added 33 receptions for 170 yards.

2018 will be a success if: Powell keeps on producing like he always does. One of the great mysteries in recent Jets history is why this team has been so reluctant to hand Powell a bigger role when all he does is succeeds. You can’t blame one coach or general manager. This has been true under multiple regimes.

Odds of making the roster: Powell made it through last year’s veteran purge. Believe it or not, he is now the longest tenured Jet and should be a great help to Sam Darnold. Lock (>99%)
