Trenton Cannon is next up in our Jets roster countdown.
Name: Trenton Cannon
Number: 40
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Receiving back
His 2017: Cannon was man among boys at Virginia State, running for 1,638 yards on a 7.7 average. The Jets picked him in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
2018 will be a success if: Cannon finds a small role and contributes in the Jets offense. Even though he only caught 21 passes in his final college season, his receiving skills flashed a bit in training camp. The Jets may end up trying to utilize those skills to create mismatches.
Odds of making the roster: Cannon is in a competition to earn the kickoff return job, which could earn him a clear spot on the team. He also might benefit from Elijah McGuire’s early camp injury, which opens up the third back spot. He is returning from an injury, but at this point he has shown enough to be More Likely Than Not (50-75%).
