His 2017: Cannon was man among boys at Virginia State, running for 1,638 yards on a 7.7 average. The Jets picked him in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
2018 will be a success if: Cannon finds a small role and contributes in the Jets offense. Even though he only caught 21 passes in his final college season, his receiving skills flashed a bit in training camp. The Jets may end up trying to utilize those skills to create mismatches.
Odds of making the roster: Cannon is in a competition to earn the kickoff return job, which could earn him a clear spot on the team. He also might benefit from Elijah McGuire’s early camp injury, which opens up the third back spot.
