Our Jets roster countdown turns to Parry Nickerson.
Name: Parry Nickerson
Number: 43
Year with Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Backup slot corner
His 2017: Nickerson’s final year at Tulane saw him earn a first team all conference in the American Athletic Conference. He picked off six passed and recorded 48 tackles. The Jets picked him in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
2018 will be a success if: Nickerson improves his game and develops into a potential replacement for Buster Skrine in 2019. For a time, it seemed like he might give Skrine a run for his money this year, but an injury has sidelined him for much of training camp. That likely will hamper his ability to contribute much this season.
Odds of making the roster: A sixth round pick is usually something close to a coin toss, but the Jets seem to like Nickerson quite a bit. I think he is Probable (75-99%).
