Tuesday was reportedly another strong day of training camp for Sam Darnold as the Jets wrapped up their series of joint practices with the Redskins.

Sam Darnold touchdown. A strike to Walford on skinny post for 20-yard TD. Entire #Jets sideline erupts, led by Jamal Adams. That drive came against #Redskins starters.

Sam Darnold, working against the Washington starters, marches the Jets’ down the field in six plays for a touchdown. Darnold went 5-of-6 on the drive, finding TE Clive Walford for a 20 yard score. A very nice drive. #Jets

Sam Darnold was sharp. Consider: He threw only six incompletions in 19 attempts, and that includes three drops.
This caught the attention of Redskins cornerback Josh Norman, who had a lot of good things to say about the rookie quarterback.

Darnold will get more of a test on Thursday night when he faces this Washington defense in a game situation. It seems likely that Darnold will see plenty of time with the first team in his next test to try and earn the Week 1 starting job.
The rookie has come on strong after missing his first three practices. His holdout seems like a distant memory now. The opportunity to start could go out the window with one poor performance in the next two preseason games, but Darnold has given himself a chance.
