The Jets and the Washington Redskins had the first of three joint training camp practices today ahead of this week’s preseason game.
There was a lot of intensity, which spilled over into one major fight and a number of other scuffles.
Here is some video.

I had never really understood why teams hold joint practices, but I think today taught me something.
Three weeks or so into training camp, it probably has become a bit of a grind for the players. They have to show up and work against their teammates every day.
Changing the venue and the opponent for practice can help to get guys to focus a bit. The Jets have worked hard in the other training camp practices I have seen, but there was definitely an extra intensity today.
And when things get a little heated against another opponent, it can help the team rally together and bond.
