NY Jets podcast: The Darnold saga

New, comments
NFL: New York Jets-Minicamp Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Training camp has begun for the Jets in 2018. It should be a happy and exciting time for a downtrodden fanbase. Jets fans have had a rough seven years, but there is finally reason for optimism. The team picked a potential franchise quarterback in the NFL Draft.

This is not a happy time, though, because that quarterback is not in training camp. Sam Darnold is holding out because he and the team have been unable to reach a contract.

On today’s podcast we dive deep on the negotiations. You could debate how much Darnold is to blame for this. There are arguments to be made either way. What I think is more difficult to debate is that the Jets are totally mishandling the situation and have dug in over contract provisions irrelevant to the team.

Thanks as always for listening to the show. Your support for the podcast is greatly appreciated.
