Training camp has begun for the Jets in 2018. It should be a happy and exciting time for a downtrodden fanbase. Jets fans have had a rough seven years, but there is finally reason for optimism. The team picked a potential franchise quarterback in the NFL Draft.
This is not a happy time, though, because that quarterback is not in training camp. Sam Darnold is holding out because he and the team have been unable to reach a contract.
On today’s podcast we dive deep on the negotiations. You could debate how much Darnold is to blame for this. There are arguments to be made either way. What I think is more difficult to debate is that the Jets are totally mishandling the situation and have dug in over contract provisions irrelevant to the team.
