Jets fans expect Sam Darnold to start Week 1 at Detroit

Earlier this week we asked on Twitter to predict which of the three Jets quarterbacks will start Week 1 at Detroit. A slight plurality picked Sam Darnold.

With 515 votes, Darnold received 40% of the vote. Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater both got 30%. Please note this is not a scientific poll.

It will be interesting to see how the Jets handle the competition in training camp. Nominally, all three players will have a chance to win the job. It can be difficult to find enough reps for three quarterbacks, though. A year ago the Jets said McCown, Christian Hackenberg, and Bryce Petty were all in competition, but only McCown and Hackenberg received the first team reps to be seriously considered.

We have a full training camp to figure out the eventual Week 1 starter. I have no doubt, however, that the Jets hope Darnold seizes the starting job and never looks back.
