Our countdown of the 2018 Jets roster now looks at Jordan Leggett.
Name: Jordan Leggett
Year with Jets: 2nd
Projected Role: Tight end depth
His 2017: Leggett suffered a knee injury during the preseason. Despite some initial optimism that he might be able to return quickly, he didn’t play in his rookie year, was placed on injured reserve near the middle of the season, and had surgery.
2018 will be a success if: Leggett shows growth. The Clemson product looked good during the offseason program according to a few reports, but I still would consider keeping my expectations low. This is a guy with no regular season NFL experience coming off a serious injury. Development is probably going to take some time.
Odds of making the roster: As the roster currently stands, my hunch would be that Leggett might be the odd man out after Clive Walford, Eric Tomlinson, and Chris Herndon and heading for the practice squad. But there are scenarios where he could stick such as a standout training camp, an injury at the position, or the Jets deciding to keep a fourth tight end. For now, I will say he is 50/50.
