2019 NFL Mock Drafts Have Already Begun

NFL: New York Jets-Rookie Minicamp Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Even though the 2018 NFL Draft is barely in our rear view mirror, some are already looking ahead to next year’s Draft. A few 2019 mock drafts are already out there.

Dan Kadar (SB Nation)

3. New York Jets: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

The Jets got their quarterback, now they just need a lot of parts around him. Williams is an impressive blocker and goes into the season as the top tackle prospect.

Todd McShay (ESPN)

4. New York Jets: Greg Little, OT, Mississippi*

Listed at 6-6, 325 pounds, he’s your classic blindside protector.

Will Brinson (CBS)

3. New York Jets: Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina

He missed a lot of 2017 with injury, but when Samuel plays he’s a high-impact guy who can take the top off of a defense. His one-handed touchdown snag in the Gamecocks’ season opener last year was ridiculous. The Jets need to get Sam Darnold a true No. 1 weapon to grow with.

To get a few things out of the way...no we don’t know that the Jets will be bad enough to have a top five pick. And yes, there is a full season to go for players to have their stock rise or fall. This is just a look at where some of the analysts are starting with the 2019 class.

I think this begins the transition for the Jets. For years, the focus has been on getting the quarterback. Now that they have the quarterback, the focus changes to building around him. That particularly is going to mean a renewed focus on building up the offensive line. It is an area where the Jets have not shown enough interest, and it is an area where they have not done a particularly good job. With so much invested in Sam Darnold, that will need to change.
