The New York Jets have signed their 4th round selection in the 2018 NFL draft, tight end Chris Herndon. Herndon signed a four year deal worth slightly more than $3 million.
Chris Herndon is a 6’ 4”, 255 pound tight end out of the University of Miami. He played behind 2017 1st round pick David Njoku for all but his senior year. In Herndon’s college career he played in 40 games and caught 86 passes for 1048 yards and seven touchdowns. Herndon’s best year came in 2017, when he caught 40 passes for 477 yards and four touchdowns. His 2017 campaign was cut short by a knee injury, which continues to hobble him to date. He is expected to be at full strength for the start of the season.
With no established starting quality tight ends on the roster Chris Herndon is expected to have a shot to win the starting job as a dual threat tight end for the Jets in the fall. With his signing the Jets have all their 2018 draft picks signed other than some obscure quarterback hardly worth mentioning.
