The New York Jets have signed their third round selection in the 2018 NFL draft, defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd.
Nathan Shepherd is a 6’ 4”, 315 pound defensive lineman out of Fort Hays State. Shepherd grew up in Ajax, Ontario, Canada and played college football at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada before leaving school to work in factories and in construction for two years. He trained, built up bulk and strength, saved his money, and eventually made his way to Fort Hays State, a Division II program in Kansas. There Shepherd posted 12.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in his senior season. The Jets hope Shepherd can replace the departed Muhammad Wilkerson on the defensive line.
With the signing of Shepherd the Jets have two remaining draft picks unsigned: fourth round pick tight end Chris Herndon and first round pick quarterback Sam Darnold.
