Ian Rapoport reports the Jets are going to sign free agent center Travis Swanson.
The #Jets are planning to sign #Lions free agent C Travis Swanson, sources say. The former third rounder recently visited NYJ and provides excellent depth inside.

Swanson visited the Jets last week. A 2014 third round pick out of Arkansas, he had spent all four years of his career with the Lions.
His play has been up and down. He also has been plagued by injuries, missing a combined nine games over the last two seasons. Both years were also ended by concussions.
This fits in with Mike Maccagnan’s typical approach to addressing the offensive line. The general manager seems to like bringing in reclamation projects with some degree of injury risk. The results have been mixed.
In this case, Swanson figures to be a backup interior lineman. Relative to what the Jets have had for backup centers and guards, he could easily be an upgrade. Either way, this is probably not going to be a major impact addition for this football team.
