The Jets have selected Trenton Cannon with the 204th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. This is the second time the Jets dipped into the small school waters this year after picking Nathan Shepherd in the third round on Friday night.
Cannon played running back at Virginia State. At 5’11” and 185 pounds, Cannon ran for 1,648 yards on 212 carries, a ridiculous average of 7.7 per attempt, along with 17 touchdowns on the group. He also has some experience as a returner, which could be his path to the Jets roster in what at the moment is a crowded backfield.
That likely ends the 2018 NFL Draft for the Jets. Barring a trade back into the Draft, the team is out of picks this year. The attention will now turn to signing undrafted free agents, which the front office can start doing after the final pick is made, and the Draft concludes.
