Ian Rapoport says the Jets have been contacted by other teams about potentially acquiring quarterback Bryce Petty.
Sources: Teams are now contacting the #Jets about potentially acquiring QB Bryce Petty. Same thing happened before last season, by NYJ resisted. With No. 3 pick Sam Darnold in the fold, they are more open to it.

With the selection of Sam Darnold last night, the Jets now have five quarterbacks. They are Darnold, Petty, Josh McCown, Christian Hackenberg, and Teddy Bridgewater. Something is going to have to give. The Jets cannot bring five quarterbacks to training camp, and there wouldn’t even be much sense in bringing four. Petty and Hackenberg are the two most likely to go, although Bridgewater is also a possibility.
For the life of me I can’t understand why another team would be willing to give up an asset for Petty, even a conditional pick. Petty has looked close to unplayable when he has seen the field in the NFL. If the Jets get any sort of trade offer, they would be wise to take it. They probably won’t be able to recoup the fourth rounder they used to get Petty, but cutting their losses in any way would be nice.
