Greg Cosell is one of my favorite NFL film breakdown analysts. While I don’t always agree with what he has to say, I do always respect his work and consider his viewpoints valid. In the last few days, Cosell has released some of his NFL Draft scouting reports on top quarterback propsects. To this point, I have seen his thoughts on Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson. I haven’t seen one for Sam Darnold yet.
I wanted to share them because these are the types of scouting reports I enjoy. First of all if you ever read a scouting report done by a professional, it likely fills you with humility. The details and things they look for are incredible. They go far beyond what people generally look for.
Beyond that, these scouting reports go beyond, “This guy is great...This guy stinks.” Instead they discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each player. Each prospect is going to have to improve certain aspects of his game at the next level. Rather than dismiss prospects as a result of them, these reports instead explore what those are and lay out the path for each quarterback.
Josh Rosen:
My breakdowns continue with Josh Rosen. I've attached my evaluation of Rosen from last summer when I watched all of his 2016 games, and my evaluation from 2017 tape. I did not look back at my 2016 notes one time until I was finished with 2017. It struck me how similar they were. pic.twitter.com/0jW9jBMl1D

Baker Mayfield:
Here's my breakdown-evaluation of Baker Mayfield. In many ways, Mayfield's transition reflects the changing nature of NFL passing games with increased emphasis on quick game, backfield actions and misdirection concepts. He'll be seen differently depending on pass game concepts. pic.twitter.com/qnOSQmZhSO

Josh Allen:
My draft series continues (I did Barkley Thursday and Chubb Friday). I wrote about Josh Allen earlier this week for https://t.co/RLBa0RgtPP. Here's my complete evaluation after studying his 2017 tape. I also watched 5 games last summer from 2016. pic.twitter.com/rtPYwqXefW

Lamar Jackson:
Today's evaluation is Lamar Jackson. A lot there, and a lot of factors and variables as you transition him to the NFL. Smart reasonable people will have different points of view re: Jackson. There's no question he will generate much discussion in NFL organizations. pic.twitter.com/0e0MBuqLKa
