As we near the Draft, it is a good thing to understand the value of positions. Positions are not the same in the NFL. Some are more valuable than others.
On yesterday’s podcast we ranked the positions on the Jets defense in terms of importance. Rankings on the defensive side of the ball are very scheme dependent. Roles and responsibilities can vary wildly from scheme to scheme at positions like outside linebacker.
On the offensive side of the ball, things are a bit simpler. A wide receiver runs routes and catches passes no matter the system his team runs. There might be a small variation here or there from team to team, but positional value is more universal on offense.
On today’s show we rank the positions on offense in importance. It is worth noting that a great player is a great player at any position. This isn’t to diminish the value of those great players. This is all generally speaking.
