The Jets announced the signings of safety Rontez Miles and Neal Sterling.

Both players were restricted free agents. The Jets offered the pair one year tenders worth around $1.9 million.

Miles has been in the Jets organization since 2013. He will turn 30 during the 2018 season. Through the years, he has emerged as a valuable special teamer and and backup safety.

Sterling had a pair of stints with the Jets in 2017. He had one performance of note, a 5 catch, 72 yard season finale at New England. He has also spent time in the Jacksonville and Kansas City organizations.

The Jets were not finished making moves. The team claimed kicker Nick Rose off waivers from the Chargers.

Rose spent training camp in 2017 with the 49ers. He had regular season stints with Washington and Los Angeles. He made 10 of 11 field goals with the Redskins but only 1 of 3 with the Chargers.

Rose is currently slated to compete with Cairo Santos for the placekicker job.
