With the NFL Draft Combine in Indianapolis coming to a close and free agency less than 10 days away, the rumor mill is starting to heat up. Though technically illegal, plenty of discussion between agents and teams will go on at the Combine each year, thus fueling speculation in the media. Some of it could have legs. Most of it is probably smoke, though. All rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Nothing means anything until a player signs the dotted line. Nevertheless, here are some tasty rumors for you savor until the real thing kicks off.

Kirk Cousins
Murmurings are that the coveted quarterback has narrowed his decision down to two teams. One of them plays its home games in the Garden State.
Hearing more and more about the Broncos and Case Keenum. The Cousins derby very likely to come down to Jets or Vikings

Other Quarterback Rumblings
This quarterback plan is less inspiring to me, unless it comes with the bonus of a drafted quarterback. Entering the season with this QB depth chart would be really uninspiring.
Jets 'Plan B' may be Bridgewater and McCown https://t.co/5oUmQWXVOi

Running Back Talk
There have already been reports out that the Jets have interest in running backs Orleans Darkwa and Damien Williams. Neither option is terribly inspiring. They’ve also been linked to Dion Lewis, a more intriguing free agent option. Regardless of the name, there has been a lot of chatter concerning the Jets’ interest in the free agent RB market. Perhaps a RB signing is on the horizon.
Trumaine Johnson and Malcolm Butler are also name-dropped here.
I spoke to a Jets coach in Indy just after Matt Forte announced his retirement. I was given the impression that Bilal Powell will NOT be asked to handle a larger role going forward. Instead the coach said the team will add an impact RB to the mix.

Weston Richburg
You already saw the tweet above linking the Jets and the former Giants center. Here is another report connecting the two. Dipping into a deep free agent center market seems to be a smart option for the Jets considering their lack of talent at the position and along the offensive line.
Don’t forget that these rumors really should be taken with the tiniest grain of salt. Such a small grain that it isn’t visible to the naked eye. It’s still fun to appease your football fan appetite, and every so often one of these reports hits the nail on the head.
Are these reports inspiring?
