According to multiple sources the New York Jets have rescinded their offer to free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
Jets CEO Christopher Johnson said today that after he and General Manager Mike Maccagnan talked it over they decided to rescind the offer they had made to Suh.
“Our thinking just changed a bit, ... [signing Suh] didn’t seem to be in keeping with our long-term plan,” Johnson told reporters today after he and Maccagnan decided to rescind the offer.
Although we cannot know for certain, this appears on its face as if Johnson stepped in and persuaded Maccagnan to go in a different direction after Maccagnan extended the offer.
Suh will be 32 years old by the end of the 2018 NFL season. That alone might help to explain the change in direction for a Jets team seemingly looking to rebuild with youth. In any event, Suh will not be a Jet.
