Calvin Watkins reports the Jets have agreed to a deal with wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.
Jets have agreed to terms with WR Terrelle Pryor a source tells @NewsdaySports— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) March 23, 2018
Pryor had a brutal 2017 season with Washington. He gambled on himself on a one year, $8 million prove it deal, and he failed to prove it. Plagued by injuries, he caught only 20 passes for 240 yards and 1 touchdown. In 2016, he put up 77 catches for 1,007 yards in Cleveland.
This one comes down to the terms of the contract. Based on the year Pryor just had, one would hope this is another short-term deal with minimal guarantees. If that is the case, it would be tough to be upset. Pryor is essentially a lottery ticket. Adding him to compete for a roster spot is a good use of a training camp spot as he has shown some ability to produce. With other question marks at the receiver position, adding another upside play to the mix seems like a solid move.
