Mike Garofalo reports free agent cornerback EJ Gaines had a visit with the Jets today.
Take 2 (had the days flipped, my bad)

CB EJ Gaines visiting the Jets today and has a visit with the Browns lined up for tomorrow, source says. This after his meeting with the Cardinals last week.
Gaines, a 26 year old corner from Missouri, spent the first three years of his career with the Rams before being sent to Buffalo in the Sammy Watkins trade last year.
If signed, he presumably would serve as a replacement for Buster Skrine in the slot. What is interesting is that Gaines has barely seen any action in the slot since spending a decent chunk of his rookie year inside in 2014.
That doesn’t necessarily mean he would be a bad fit, though. Jets brass has been open over the last few years in their view Skrine is what they are looking for in that slot cornerback role because they want a guy who can also go outside. They think Skrine can do either effectively While that evaluation is up for debate, Gaines’ experience playing both outside and in the slot at various points in his career might provide the Jets with the skillset they want.
