Johnson turned 29 a few weeks ago. He was a seventh round pick of the Packers back in 2013. He also had stints in the Browns and Vikings organizations. He signed with Carolina in 2017 but was waived after suffering a knee injury. Johnson only has 60 career catches for 834 yards.
Pryor was a third round supplemental pick as a quarterback in 2011 by the Raiders. He bounced around the league before converting to wide receiver. He posted over 1,000 receiving yards for the Browns in 2016, which led to him receiving a one year contract with Washington. His season in the nation’s capital was forgettable, however, as he was limited to 9 games due to injury and didn’t fit in the Washington offense, posting only 20 catches for 240 yards.
Johnson profiles as a camp body.
Pryor is a bit more intriguing. The Jets have some question marks at the receiver position. He likely would be another lottery ticket, one the Jets could buy low. I have the sense that like Tyrann Mathieu, Pryor’s name has people more excited than his actual body of work warrants. With that said, he would be a nice low risk, moderate upside guy to have if the deal was cheap.
