Manish Mehta reports the Jets have agreed to terms with free agent defensive lineman Xavier Cooper.

Cooper was a third round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2015. He failed to make the Cleveland roster out of training camp in 2017 and had a brief stint with the 49ers before catching on with the Jets in season.
He received a surprising amount of playing time for the Jets down the stretch, a beneficiary of Muhammad Wilkerson’s late season deactivation. Cooper got 154 snaps over the final three weeks of the season, and I thought he did a surprisingly solid job.
He was set to become a restricted free agent, but the Jets did not offer him a one year tender, making him an unrestricted free agent. We do not have the official numbers yet, but we might presume it is less than the one year tender would have cost the Jets.
