Jets Sign Ben Ijalana To One Year Deal

Indianapolis Colts v New York Jets

The New York Jets have agreed to a one year deal with offensive tackle Ben Ijalana.

Ijalana is a 28 year old, 6’ 3”, 319 pound swing tackle who spent the last three seasons with the Jets. After signing a two year, $10.25 million deal with the Jets in 2017, Ijalana went on to play 56 offensive snaps the entire year, was relegated to backing up the backups, was a healthy scratch in five games and cost the Jets a cool $5.25 million, including $1 million in 2018 dead money, for his troubles.

Ijalana presumably returns to his backup tackle role. Terms of the contract have not yet been disclosed.

There are times when it might be better for both parties in a relationship to move on and get a fresh start. Occasionally neither party sees it that way until multiple breakups make it too painful to go on. I leave it to you to decide where this relationship falls.
