A day after Chandler Catanzaro signed with the Buccaneers, the Jets agreed to terms with a new kicker.
Former Chiefs' and Bears' kicker Cairo Santos is signing a one-year contract with the New York Jets.

Santos kicked with the Chiefs between 2014 and 2017. He was cut in September, but it seemed to be due more to injury than performance. He had made all of his field goal and extra point attempts to date before he was cut but had to sit due to a groin injury. He briefly caught on with the Bears briefly later in the season but the groin injury returned, leading to surgery.
Santos’ 84.1% career field goal average ranks 15th best in NFL history so he figures to be a solid signing as long as he enters training camp healthy. One might imagine the Jets will bring in a young kicker as competition, whether that means a third camp for Ross Martin or somebody else.
Santos went to college at Tulane in New Orleans.
