NY Jets podcast: Looking at defensive needs

New, comments
NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at New York Jets Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

We continue to set up the offseason on our podcast.

On Friday we went position by position through the offense to look at where the Jets have needs and how big they are. Each position was categorized as having a glaring need, a partial need, or no need in both the short run and the long run.

Today we turn our attention to the defense on the eve of free agency. There are a number of different ways defensive positions can be grouped so we will stick strictly to roles. We will look at interior type defensive linemen, edge rushers, off ball linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties.

Just like when we looked at the state of the offense, each position receives two categories, one for the immediate term and the other for the long run.
