Jets safety Jamal Adams paid a visit to NFL Network’s Good Morning Football to talk about the challenge of facing Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Gronkowski beat Adams for a pair of touchdowns the first time they met in 2017. Adams acknowledges in this clip that he didn’t prepare for the matchup the right way. He talks about the difference between preparing to play in college and preparing for an NFL game. In college, players have other commitments to deal with which limits their preparation time, while in the NFL the players need to focus on preparation full-time.

After Gronkowski’s big game in Week 6, the Jets held him in check in the season finale Week 17 despite losing in New England. Adams had a strong game in the season finale, but there also was a schematic tweak. Instead of primarily playing Adams one on one against Gronkowski as they did in the first meeting, the Jets had Darron Lee helping Adams as their go to coverage in the second meeting.
