NY Jets podcast: The state of the corners

The cornerback position is important for the Jets. Truth be told, cornerback is a premium position on most NFL defenses. There are only a few zone based systems where it isn’t essential. In a passing league, having players who can cover is imperative.

On today’s podcast, we take a look at the current state of the cornerbacks for the Jets. Where do things stand as we head into free agency. Is this a group that could use an upgrade?

To put it mildly, the answer is yes. Most of the focus at the moment is on Kirk Cousins and potential additions at quarterback. This is rightly so. Quarterback trumps all other needs. That said, this is a team more than a quarterback away. One of the most dire needs on the roster comes at corner, which becomes evident as we go one through one on the players already in house.

The good news is the Jets will have resources to address the position in the offseason.
