The Ever-Coveted Tight End

I don't know about you guys but I miss the days of Dustin Keller. I'm also extremely jealous of every team out there that has the luxury of a great tight end (Pats, Chiefs, Panthers, Redskins, every other team but us it seems). Frankly, I was a fan of Sefarian-Jenkins this past year. However, chances are we don't bring him back. Not to mention, there are plenty of better options out there as well.

Whether through FA or the draft, I believe we should at least look at who's out there. Here are my top 5 tight end targets:

1. Jimmy Graham (FA) - He'll obviously come with the biggest price tag, but it's hard to look away from Jimmy Graham based off of pure talent. Simply put, when you throw him the ball, good things happen. Likelihood of getting him, however, not great, as we could use that type of money elsewhere.

2. Mike Gesicki (Penn St.) - I have Gesicki ranked higher than a lot of people. In fact, he's my favorite tight end prospect in this year's draft. Every time I had on a PSU game (mostly to watch Barkley), Gesicki stood out. They guy seems to jump out of the gym and catch everything. Not to mention, he won't have to take priority over other needs and we can snag him in a middle round.

3. Tyler Eifert (FA) - The next best free agency option. He should come a little cheaper than Graham as well. The talent and production are there, but obviously durability is the main concern. If we feel like taking a risk, Eifert could have the biggest payout. He could, however, be the biggest bust if he can't stay healthy.

4. Austin Seferian-Jenkins (FA) - In at number 4 comes our boy ASJ. We are all aware of what he brings to the table, it's just a matter of if we resign him or go elsewhere. His biggest upside, to me, is the amount he improved over last offseason. If he is capable of making another jump into next year, he could solidify himself as a go-to target for whoever plays QB.

5. Mark Andrews (Oklahoma) - The most basic way to describe Mark Andrews is he's a receiver in a tight end's body. Or, at least that's how Oklahoma treated him. He's been rated as the best TE prospect in this year's class and a first round talent, which is oddly why I have him ranked 5th. We need to looks elsewhere in the first two rounds of the draft, simply put. The only way I could reason taking him is if we get Baker in the 1st, and then grab his favorite target with our 2nd.

T-5. Troy Fumagalli (Wisconsin) - He may lack the college production as some of the other guys, and the same amount of fingers (fun fact), but don't let that distract you from how dominant this guy is. If drafting a TE is the way to go, and Gesicki and Andrews are off the board, Fumagalli is a guy to keep an eye on.
