Mike Mayock of NFL Network released his position rankings for Draft prospects prior to the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine. All eyes this year are on the quarterbacks, where there are numerous potential first round prospects and little consensus on where they rank. Here are Mayock’s current top five.
1. Sam Darnold, USC
2. Josh Allen, Wyoming
3. Josh Rosen, UCLA
4. Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma
T-5. Lamar Jackson, Louisville
T-5. Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
Darnold being the top quarterback is notable, but the player right behind him is even more notable.
Allen is probably the most polarizing prospect of this year’s class. Many evaluators view him as a worthy top five selection. Others question whether he should even be selected in the first round. Mayock is clearly in the former camp. Allen’s potential vs. that of Baker Mayfield has been a hot topic of debate in recent weeks, but sticking him ahead of Rosen is especially striking.
How does Mayock see things at other premium positions where the Jets have a need?
