Top Comments:

On whether or not we should trade Robby:

Not all football players are Boy Scouts.

Giving up Robby for a 4th would be so silly. Unless the jets felt he was a locker room cancer or something, he does his 1 trick very, very well. Once we have a competent play caller and Darnold gets comfortable behind a better Oline Robby will shine. Field stretchers are valuable, Will Fuller went in the first round and I’d rather have Robby. Let’s not run one of our very few decent Offensive players out of town, the FA WR pool is barren this year, the draft is loaded but can’t see us talking a first round WR just because we are the Jets.

On the potential good news:

breaking: Jets fire bowles

no, not really, just trying to lift spirits for a hot second.

-panhandle chris

On the prospect of keeping Maccagnan:

Macc Must Go, Macc Must Go, Macc Must Go.

Firing Bowles & Staff and Keeping Macc is the equivalent of drinking a gallon of prune juice after a bad bought of diarrhea

-yowizeguy

On the odds that the Jets win a game in which their ahead:

Sadly when the Jets were up 16-7, Vegas

Thought it was 50/50 they would lose. Team is a total joke. Bowles and Mac should never be employed in the NFL again. Jets should turn over two thirds of their roster at end of the season.

-oldschoolnets

On the state of the franchise:

Jamal Adams is a stud.

That’s honestly the only positive I can think of. I’d legitimately be happy if we replaced 50 of the players on this team. Maybe 49. Keep Adams, Darnold, Herndon and Enunwa I suppose. Replace everyone else.

-VC4Three

On Quincy Enunwa’s interview tactics:

Q

Basically telling the “genius” reporter what we all know: 1) Bowles sucks 2) Bates sucks 3) More than half this team sucks (i.e. Macc Sucks) The kicker being: Hello NFL. I’m a loyal, hard working possession type receiver. I’d be happy to be a member of a team that cares. Could that be you? Call my agent.

-yowizeguy

On the Quality of Bates’ Playcalling:

I think it’s amazing that Bates would use a rookie receiving tight end as a lead blocker on a crucial third down. The run itself is even dumber in this situation. These guys get paid crazy money to scheme and play all and your average homebody playing Madden would know better than to call this play.

-JG88

On whether or not the Jets OC job is a desirable position:

Jets OC may be the worst job in football

The average tenure is probably less than 2 seasons and everyone hates them.

-HeffMania

On the importance of Quality Coaching:

This is why I say coaching matters

You can give 2 guys the exact same playbooks. NFL teams have playbooks the size of actual booklets, with multiple plays being run out of multiple groupings. With that many options you need to have a sense of timing and tempo as a play caller. Obviously player talent also matters but, 3rd and 5 with 11 in the box. You throw the ball. Even if you succeed in picking up a 1st down, the logic behind running the ball is weak at best. Football is more like chess than people think. Give 2 people the exact same pieces and you can still get different results because of how many ways each piece can be moved around.
