Matt Campbell of Iowa State turns down Jets interview request

Many people view Matt Campbell as a rising star in the coaching ranks. The Iowa State head coach is going to have opportunities for bigger jobs. The Jets could have been one such opportunity, but he has rejected their overtures.

How attractive is the Jets coaching job? That is up for debate and very subjective. Some aspects of the job that might attract some candidates might turn others away.

In any event, it does not sound like Campbell will be the next head coach of the Jets.

I don’t think it would be fair to allow one rejection allow anybody to make sweeping conclusions about the job’s desirability. This is simply Campbell’s choice.

I, for one, am a little disappointed the Jets won’t get a chance to speak with him. I have been impressed from afar by what he has done at Iowa State and would have loved it if he was in the mix for this job.
