The dust has settled, and the Jets have secured the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The team’s loss today meant that the Jets did not fall down from three, but the team did not get the help it needed to move up as the Cardinals and the 49ers both lost. The Jets also did not get the help they needed in the strength of schedule tiebreaker.
Arizona owns the top overall pick in next spring’s Draft. San Francisco owns the second pick. The Jets are sitting at number three.
The team picked third last year, but that required trading three second round picks to flip spots with the Colts. Now the Jets start out number three.
It is a less than ideal mix sitting in the top two. The Jets need help at all of the premium positions except quarterback. Neither the Cardinals with Josh Rosen nor the 49ers with Jimmy Garoppolo will be in the market for a quarterback.
The Jets will still have a shot at adding some premium talent to their roster, though.
