Gang Green Nation Reader Spotlight: Timlaska

The Basics:

What’s your name and/or username? I go by Timlaska. It is a combination of my name (Tim) and an old rap alias I used to have when I was an independent artist back in the late 90s/early 00s (Alaska)

What city/state do you live in? I live in Brooklyn, NY.

How old are you? 46 years old

The Miscellaneous:

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.

If you could grab lunch with anybody in the past, present or future—dead or alive, who would it be and why? Hunter S. Thompson, the conversation would be interesting, the booze and drugs would be plentiful, and chances are it would turn into a 3 day binge/adventure.

If you were stranded on a deserted island for the rest of forever, which musical artist would you be listening to, and which television series would you be watching? Music Ghostface Killah’s collective work between 1996-2004. TV: probably the Simpsons, There are a ton of episodes to get me through the down time.

The Jets Related Questions:

How did you become a Jets fan? My dad had season tickets back to the Shea days. The Jets turned him into a complete rage machine. I thought anything that could make you feel this much has to be good for you. I was dumb.

What’s your favorite Jets memory? What about your most painful Jets memory? Favorite Jets memory was the Keyshawn Johnson game against the Jaguars in the 1998 playoffs. I was at the game, it was freezing balls and it was awesome. Keyshawn had a running TD, a receiving touchdown, chased down a Jaguar defender like 60 yards to cause a fumble, and had an interception. I’d never seen anything like it in my life. To this day I do not know why Jets fans hated him so much. Worst memory was probably the loss to Denver in the AFC title game that same year. The loss to Pittsburgh in the AFC title game in 2010 was rough too.

In your humble opinion, who is the most dominant Jet to ever play and why? Probably Revis. In his prime he was untouchable. He allowed for everything else to happen on defense.

Who is your favorite Jets player and why? Favorite current Jet is Adams. I love passionate players. I want players who believe and talk crap. I feel like Adams would die on the field if it meant winning a game. All time: Keyshawn. See 1998 Jags playoff game.

If Woody Johnson handed you a blank check and gave you a choice to be a part of the New York Jets organization in any capacity, which position would you choose, and why? (It could be GM, Head Coach, Quarterback, Linebacker, Head of Scouting, Waterboy—the sky is the limit). Backup QB. You get a ton of money to do nothing and everyone thinks you are better than you actually are, you just need a chance.

Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles get fired after the season and Woody Johnson decides to name you the next GM, giving you one very clear goal: win the Super Bowl within the next 4 years. What is your strategy to make the Jets a Super Bowl winner? What is your strategy to build this team into a perennial Super Bowl contender? Hand the keys over to Saban and let him run things as he sees fit.
