Week 16 of the NFL season has the 4-10 New York Jets coming off a tough loss against the Houston Texans in which Sam Darnold played his best game of the season. Having been eliminated from the 2018 NFL playoffs, the rest of the Jets season is interesting for the fans mostly for the development of Darnold, so his recent improvements have been a gratifying turn of events. Darnold squares off against a quarterback he greatly admires this week when the Jets face one of the all time greats, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Jets come into this game hurting, with starting wide receiver Quincy Enunwa out for the game. In addition the Jets have lost starting running back Isaiah Crowell, starting right tackle Brandon Shell, starting tight end Neal Sterling, starting safety Marcus Maye, starting guard James Carpenter and starting running back Bilal Powell for the season to injuries, making this Jets team a depleted group going into the last couple of games of the 2018 season.
The good news is the Jets will face a Green Bay Packers team in disarray. The Packers are 0-7 on the road and have allowed the third worst opposing passer rating away from home in the league. They have just one interception all year on the road, and they have allowed every opposing quarterback they have faced on the road a passer rating of 99 or better. The Packers come into this game losers of four of their last five and six of their last eight games. They are in the uncharted territory of having a relatively healthy Aaron Rodgers leading a team that was eliminated from playoff contention long before the end of the season. With nothing to play for other than pride the Packers present an interesting challenge for the Jets today.
It’s the Jets and the Packers in a game with nothing on the line for either team other than draft position and pride. Leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
