After giving out a game ball last week following a Jets win, we are back in the anti-game ball business this week. The Jets put up a spirited fight against the Texans, but they ultimately fell short. Who receives our anti-game ball as a punishment?
Sometimes the anti-game ball is not about failure over the course of an entire game. There are weeks where it goes to the culprit during a pivotal sequence that had an direct impact on the game’s outcome. This is one of those weeks.
On the Texans’ game-winning touchdown drive, Morris Claiborne was the goat. He was beaten in coverage for a pair of big completions, including the deciding touchdown. He was also flagged for a holding penalty that helped the Texans extend the drive.
Yes, it was a difficult matchup for him, but Claiborne has been able to handle difficult assignments in the past. This week he wasn’t, which nets him my anti-game ball.
