Jets vs Texans: Five Bold Predictions

NFL: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

After a lovely win in which neither team was particularly impressive, the Jets come face to face with one of the hotter teams in the AFC. The Texans have dropped some games to inferior competition, but they are still a well balanced team with considerably more talent than the Jets. You could say the same thing about a few other teams the Jets faced, and a couple they even beat, so let’s see how this rare Saturday game shakes out.

Disclaimer: A Bold Prediction is not something that is likely or probable to happen. Bold Predictions are blind guesses that are laughably optimistic beyond what anyone can reasonably expect to happen, but not so far as to be virtually impossible. Saying that Leonard Williams will get a sack is not a Bold Prediction, nor is saying that Bilal Powell will run for 650 yards. By definition, Bold Predictions are unlikely, but not impossible, to occur. Since this is a Jets site, they are also pro-Jets predictions. As always, the Final Score prediction is meant to be realistic, not a Bold Prediction.

Here are my five bold predictions for tomorrow’s game:

  1. The Jets score on offense, defense, and special teams.
  2. Three Jet receivers score a TD.
  3. Trumaine Johnson continues his streak of good games with a pick six.
  4. The Jets do not turn the ball over.
  5. The Jets put up over 400 yards of total offense.

And a bonus prediction: There will be no comparisons made by the announcers concerning Deshaun Watson and Sam Darnold.

Final Score: Even though the Jets provided a little optimism last week, this Texans team is a lot stronger on offense and defense than the Jets and I expect it to show. Jets 13, Texans 31.
