Crowell had already been ruled out of Saturday’s game against the Texans with a toe injury. He will now also miss the final two games against the Packers and the Patriots.
He ends his first season with the Jets with 685 yards on 143 carries, which averages out to an excellent 4.8 average. He also tallied 6 touchdowns on the ground. In the receiving game, he had 21 receptions for 152 yards.
These are good aggregate numbers, although it should be noted that Crowell’s season had high volatility from game to game. Over 60% of his rushing yards were compiled in just three big games, and there were seven games in which he was held to under 3 yards per carry. In his defense, part of that was undoubtedly the result of inconsistent run blocking in the trenches.
