The Jets’ win over the Bills had implications for the team’s slotting in the 2019 NFL Draft. The team entered the weekend owning the third overall slot. When combined with the other results this weekend, the Jets fell to the fifth slot.
The current Draft order is below.
- San Francisco 3-10
- Arizona 3-10
- Oakland 3-10
- Atlanta 4-9
- Jets 4-9
- Buffalo 4-9
- Jacksonville 4-9
- Tampa Bay 5-8
- Detroit 5-8
- Giants 5-8
The Jets’ remaining games are against the Houston Texans, the Green Bay Packers, and the New England Patriots. While the team came out of Sunday’s game victorious, that was the easiest game remaining on the schedule for the team in 2018.
It is worth noting that tiebreakers for Draft positioning are based on the strength of schedule by opponents, not by head to head record.
Cue the debate about tanking and whether the Jets hurt themselves by winning the game on Sunday below.
